Abstract: The invention relates, in general, to various methods to manufacture and/or design stoppers, in particular laminated stoppers for medical applications, as well as various polymer blends and design considerations to be considered when manufacturing such stoppers. In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a syringe stopper formed from a material having an increased rubber modulus and/or a compression ratio, as defined below, that yields a partially laminated stopper with only one or more desired sealing services being laminated (e.g. a stopper with, for example, three ribs but only one or two thereof being a laminated sealing rib) or a fully laminated stopper with all sealing services being laminated (e.g. a stopper with, for example, three ribs where all three ribs are laminated sealing ribs) sealing surfaces, stopper with suitable contact pressures (Areal/Ao is greater than 0.42) so as to realize total sealing in a wide variety of applications.
