Abstract: METHOD FOR REMOVAL OF AMMONIA FROM AN EFFLUENT A method (200) for removal of ammonia from an effluent is disclosed. The method (200) includes step of routing (202) the effluent into a feed tank (102). The method (200) further includes step of aerating (204) the effluent in the feed tank (102). The method (200) further includes step of subjecting (206) the aerated effluent to hydrodynamic cavitation in a cavitation device (104). In the cavitation device (104), during hydrodynamic cavitation, pressure of the effluent is varied from a first pressure (P1) to a second pressure (P2). By virtue of being subjected to hydrodynamic cavitation, the ammonia in the effluent is oxidized. The method further includes step of re-circulating (208) the effluent to the feed tank (102). The effluent is re-circulated at a third pressure (P3), for further aeration of the effluent. The effluent is re-circulated for a defined time period (T), prior subjecting the effluent to further hydrodynamic cavitation. [Fig. 2 is a representative figure]
