MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411104124 A) filed by Priyam Tyagi on December 28, 2024, for Method For Production Of Polyhydroxyalkanoate (pha), A Biodegradable Polymer.
Inventor includes Priyam Tyagi.
The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: A method for producing polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) comprising steps of: isolating the selected bacterial strains by serial dilution and selecting the type of bacterial strains; screening the isolated bacteria; preparing the Polyhydroxyalkanoate Induction Medium (PIM) and cultivating them; extracting the polyhydroxyalkanoate and treating the cells to obtain a polyhydroxyalkanoate film (106), characterized in that: the carbon source utilized in the medium is outdated/expired/unused ready-to-serve beverages; cell lysis conditions are optimized by varying the concentration of sodium hypochlorite, incubation time and incubation temperature; and reusing the supernatant remaining after the separation of a bacterial cell pellet from the medium for growth of a different bacterial strain for polyhydroxyalkanoate production allowing for two different polyhydroxyalkanoate polymers to be produced from the same waste by using different bacterial strains, leading to bioremediation of expired/unused/waste RTS without the need for chemical treatment.
