MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621106763 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Indore on September 04, 2026, for Method For Producing One-Dimensional (1d) Nanofibers From Non-Layered Metal-Organic Frameworks.
Inventors include Hussain, Nissar; and Mobin, Shaikh M..
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: A method for producing one-dimensional (1D) nanofibers from non-layered metal-organic frameworks is provided. The method involves aqueous ultrasonic SBU- directed exfoliation of nonlayered MOFs into nanofibrous architectures through coordination-preserving anisotropic structural transformation. The method operates in pure water without surfactants, acids, or organic additives. The disclosure overcomes limitation of existing exfoliation methods, which are restricted to layered MOFs and typically produce nanosheets. The method introduces a new pathway for generating nanofibers from nonlayered frameworks, expanding the morphological engineering space of MOFs. The resulting nanofibers exhibit high aspect ratio and improved structural accessibility. The disclosure offers significant commercial potential as a scalable and environmentally sustainable platform technology for the production of nanofibrous metal-organic framework (MOF) materials from nonlayered crystalline frameworks.
