Abstract: The present invention provides a method for producing glucose, the method comprising bringing a liquid which contains cellulose and water into contact with a solid acid catalyst. The present invention also provides a solid acid catalyst for glucose production, the solid acid catalyst containing elemental carbon, elemental titanium, and silica, while having a sulfo group as a surface functional group.
