Abstract: ABSTRACT METHOD FOR PRODUCING FUNCTIONALIZED NANOFIBER MATS WITH ENHANCED ANALYTICAL SENSING PROPERTIES Disclosed herein a method (100) for producing functionalized nanofiber mats for analytical sensing applications, the method comprises preparing a polymer solution suitable for electrospinning. The method further comprises incorporating nanoparticles into the polymer solution to form a nanoparticle-polymer mixture. Further, electrospinning the nanoparticle-polymer mixture to produce nanofiber mats with embedded nanoparticles. Further, functionalizing the nanofiber mats via chemical or physical modifications to enhance selective analyte binding and improve physicochemical properties and conditioning the functionalized nanofiber mats for use in detecting chemical and biological targets.
