Abstract: ABSTRACT METHOD FOR OPERATING AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH GASEOUS FUEL, COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT, AND CONTROL UNIT In a method for operating an internal combustion engine (10) with multiple combustion chambers (14), gaseous fuel is supplied from a fuel rail (18) and via a fuel injector (20) assigned to each combustion chamber (14) through an injection process (32), and gaseous fuel is supplied to the fuel rail (18) substantially continuously from a fuel supply system (16). It is proposed that the method comprises the following steps: (a) determining, within at least one operating cycle, the pressure drops in the fuel rail (18) that occur during each injection (32) into a combustion chamber (14); (b) determining the opening durations of the corresponding fuel injector (20) associated with each pressure drop; (c) determining the total duration of the operating cycle; (d) determining respective mass indicators (In) from the determined pressure drops, the determined opening durations, and the determined total duration.
