Abstract: The invention relates to a method for obtaining the fine material from plastic containers to be recycled which results during the comminuting and washing process, said containers being used to produce PCR (post consumer recycled) granulate. The method comprises the following method steps: (a) comminuting the containers to form flakes, (b) washing the flakes using a washing medium, (c) supplying the product stream, comprising the flakes and the washing medium, to a dewatering device for separating the washing water from the flakes, and (d) generating a fine-material stream (11) by separating the fine material washed out in the washing medium from the washing medium. The fine-material stream (11) is separated into settled material (15) and floating material (17) by way of wet-chemical density separation with an adjustable separating density.
