Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing lightweight automotive components using hemp fiber-reinforced epoxy biocomposites. The method comprises conditioning hemp fibers to obtain a controlled moisture condition, surface-modifying the hemp fibers to improve fiber-matrix interaction, arranging the fibers into a reinforcement preform having a predetermined fiber architecture, impregnating the reinforcement preform with an epoxy resin composition, consolidating the impregnated reinforcement, and curing the composite according to a staged curing profile. The reinforcement preform may include spatially differentiated fiber densities corresponding to different mechanical loading regions of the automotive component. Resin impregnation, consolidation pressure, and temperature may be monitored and controlled according to detected process conditions to reduce void formation, incomplete impregnation, thermal non-uniformity, and dimensional distortion. The method provides lightweight automotive components having controlled reinforcement distribution, improved fiber-matrix interfacial bonding, reduced internal defects, and reproducible mechanical characteristics while increasing utilization of renewable natural fiber reinforcement.
