MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521072239 A) filed by Sathyan Payyadakkath on July 29, 2025, for Method For Manufacturing High-Grip, Ultrasonically Welded Plastic Roller Assembly With Free-Rotating Threaded Metal Insert..
Inventor includes Sathyan Payyadakkath.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: This invention describes a method for manufacturing a high-grip roller assembly that provides smooth rotational movement without using traditional internal metal bearings. The assembly comprises four main components: a plastic Roller Top, a Roller Bottom, a cold-forged metal threaded insert, and a silicone rubber ring. The Roller Top and Bottom are precision-moulded using self-lubricating polyacetal and joined via ultrasonic welding, ensuring sufficient internal clearance for the insert’s free rotation. The metal insert features a threaded end and a star-head for installation and is chrome-plated for corrosion resistance. A silicone ring is mounted externally to improve grip and control. This process significantly reduces production costs—up to 60% compared to conventional bearing-based assemblies—while maintaining performance. The method is ideal for applications in appliances, automotive systems, and industrial mechanisms where cost-efficiency and functional reliability are critical.
