Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a double-layer metal armored fire-resistant optical cable (100) and a manufacturing method (200). The optical cable (100) includes a core with optical fibers (102) contained within loose tubes (104), which are filled with jelly (106) for protection. The loose tubes (104) are twisted around a central reinforcement element, and the core is armored with chrome-plated corrugated steel belts (112), both for mechanical protection and to enhance fire resistance. The inner sheaths (108) and the outer sheaths (110) are made from flame-retardant ceramic polyolefin materials, providing additional fire-resistance. The manufacturing process (200) involves multiple steps, including coloring (202) the optical fibers (102) using UV curing ink, applying (204) a secondary coating to the loose tubes (104), stranding (206) the tubes around a central reinforcement element, and forming the sheaths (208). The final product undergoes stringent testing for optical, physical, and fire-resistance properties.
