Abstract: ABSTRACT METHOD FOR JURISDICTION-CONDITIONED RESOLUTION OF CONFLICTING JUDICIAL AUTHORITY A method for jurisdiction-conditioned resolution of conflicting judicial authority includes receiving, by one or more processors, a query (118). The method includes computing a territory state (122) comprising a probability distribution over a plurality of judicial territories based on at least a language identifier and a script identifier associated with the query (118). The method includes retrieving a candidate authority set (126) from an authority store (108) based on the query (118). The method includes identifying a conflict relationship between at least two authorities in the candidate authority set (126). The method includes determining an authority tier for each authority relative to the territory state (122), the authority tier distinguishing a binding authority from a non-binding authority. The method includes rescoring each authority as a function of a relevance score and the authority tier to produce a territory-conditioned ordering (130). The method includes retaining a non-binding conflicting authority and attaching an adversarial label (132) characterizing the non-binding conflicting authority as an anticipated opposing submission. The method includes withholding an affirmative output and emitting an abstention indication (134) where no authority is of binding tier and the conflict relationship is present.
