Abstract: Method for Formulating Eutectic Mixture of Quetiapine with Fatty Acids for Enhanced Bioavailability in Schizophrenia Treatment This invention describes a method of preparation of Quetiapine . It is an antipsychotic drug belonging dibenzodiazepine derivative for treatment of schizophrenia. However, the low bioavailability relates to its low water permeability limits used in oral dosage form. Therefore, to improve the bioavailability of quetiapine of two eutecticsystem of quetiapine (QUE) with fatty acids (myristic acid (MA), palmitic acid (PA)) are used. The binary phase is constructed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) data ofmixture prepared from . to . molar ratios of quetiapine with myristic acid and palmitic acid. Binary eutectic mixtures are prepared by physical mixture method. The eutectic mixtureis further characterized by DSC and X- ray diffraction (XRD). Phase diagram intended to improve bioavailability andpermeability of quetiapine. The melting point of QUE-PA, QUE-MA pure drug QUE mixture with varying composition proportions are determined and analyzed by drawing the phase diagram to determined eutectic point and corresponding mixture proportion.
