Abstract: ABSTRACT Method for enhancing the wettability and tensile strength of soft body armour The present invention describes a method for augmenting the mechanical strength, thermal properties and wettability of soft body armour by coating the Kevlar material with graphene oxide nanparticles (GONPs). GONPs are synthesized by Hummer’s method. 1.0 g GO NPs are mixed with N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), sonicated, sodium carbonate is added and again sonicated. Zirconium oxychloride and Boron carbide are added, and the formulation is transferred to a glass tray for coating Kevlar material, Washed Kevlar material is coated on both sides with the prepared solution by dipping multiple times, followed by drying. The GO NPs-coated Kevlar material exhibited increased tensile strength surpassing 499.46 kgf, thermal stability and endurance upto 3095.67°C, and superhydrophobic surfaces with contact angle 132.7°. Corrosion tests of the coated fabric showed increased reactivity, and moisture tests confirmed the hydrophilicity of the coated fabric. Fig. 4
