Abstract: The present invention discloses a process for development of a sustainable provisional cement using recycled alginate. The process involves heating alginate impression material in a furnace to convert it into a reusable form, followed by grinding it into a fine powder. This powdered alginate is then blended with gypsum (calcium sulfate hemihydrate) in a 1:2 molar ratio to create a cement mixture. When combined with water, the mixture forms a paste that hardens into a material suitable for provisional dental applications. This method promotes sustainability, reduces material waste, and provides a cost-effective alternative to conventional temporary cements. The developed cement exhibits desirable mechanical properties, setting time, and ease of application, making it a viable solution for dental applications.
