Inventors include Shunmugam, Prof. Raja; Kumar, Mr. Chandan; Rajwar, Ms. Sangita; and Mishra, Ms. Anushka.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: Embodiments herein disclose a method for simultaneous detection and removal of arsenic(III) [As(III)] from an aqueous medium. The method involves introducing into an aqueous sample an adsorbent polymeric compound comprising imine (–C=N–) functional groups and sulfur-containing functional groups selected from thiol (–SH) and thioether (–S–). Upon contact, arsenic(III) ions interact with the imine groups to form a coordination complex, resulting in a visible color change enabling rapid detection. Concurrently, the arsenic(III) ions are adsorbed onto the polymeric compound via coordination with the sulfur-containing functional groups and/or surface adsorption sites.
