The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a method for controlling welding-induced distortion in thin-sheet welded panels (22) used in shipbuilding and similar large structural assemblies by employing an adjustable mechanical tensioning screw system (200) that applies controlled tensile forces to the panels (20) during sequential tack welding, butt welding, and stiffener welding operations. The adjustable mechanical tensioning screw system (200) comprises a base structure (202), adjustable mechanical tensioning screws (204), and locking members (206). The method minimizes the need for post-weld straightening, correction, or rework of deck panels. The method offers a practical, cost-effective, and mechanically simple approach for welding distortion control in thin-sheet panels during shipbuilding deck fabrication. The method ensures consistent application of tensile force throughout multiple welding stages involved in deck panel fabrication.
