MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641126951 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on October 24, 2026, for Method For Constraint-Directed Sensing And Interlocked Release Of Held Industrial Actuator Commands.
Inventors include Dr. T. Poompavai; and Jayakumaran U.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT METHOD FOR CONSTRAINT-DIRECTED SENSING AND INTERLOCKED RELEASE OF HELD INDUSTRIAL ACTUATOR COMMANDS A method for controlling an industrial actuator (102) of an industrial machine (100) is provided. A command-generation controller (122) generates a candidate actuator command, sensor evidence and uncertainty are acquired from a plurality of sensors (104), and a safety controller (124) withholds the command when not certified against safety constraints. A failed safety constraint is identified, contributions of uncertainty components to the failed safety constraint are determined, and a command-specific deadline is calculated from a safe-response time. When a dominant uncertainty component is reducible within the deadline, a sensor is reconfigured with a sensing action directed to the failed safety constraint, and the same withheld command is re-evaluated using updated sensor evidence. A command-specific safety certificate bound to the command and evidence is generated, and the command is released upon verification by an actuator interlock gateway (146) independent of the command-generation controller before the deadline expires.
