Abstract: A method for coating a card clothing element (1) and a card clothing element (1) are claimed. The card clothing element (1) has a main body (3) and one or more sawtooth wires (6), having successively arranged teeth (10), retained in the main body (3). The card clothing element (1) is dipped in an acid bath (23) to round off edges, brought about by a production process, of the teeth (10), and subsequently in a coating bath (24) having an anode (26) for electrolytically applying a chrome layer to the sawtooth wire (6). The card clothing element (1) is introduced into the coating bath (24) against the anode (26) such that at least the blade (9) of each sawtooth wire (6) is coated with a chrome coating.
