The method comprises receiving an electronic representation of a medical procedure to be performed on the patient, the electronic representation comprising a sequence of steps of the medical procedure, and receiving tracking data comprising a position of medical staff performing the medical procedure or contributing to the medical procedure, and/or a position of medical equipment used in the medical procedure. The method comprises further correlating the received tracking data with the electronic representation of the medical procedure, thereby determining a current step of the sequence of steps of the medical procedure, generating patient information, i.e. information for the patient, based on the received tracking data and the determined current step of the sequence of steps of the medical procedure, and providing the generated patient information to the patient during the medical procedure.
