MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441079916 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. , Ltd. on October 21, 2024, for Method And System For Spatial Instruction Guided Image Editing Using Generative Models.
Inventors include Aniruddha Bala; Rohan Jaiswal; and Siddharth Deepak Roheda.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SPATIALLY EDITING TWO-DIMENSIONAL (2D) IMAGES Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a method (800) and system (700) for spatially editing a 2D image (103) using natural language instructions that include metric-based transformations such as moving, rotating, or scaling objects. The method (800) involves generating a 3D point cloud from the 2D image (103), applying the specified transformation to the relevant object region, combining the 3D and visual features, and using a diffusion model (709) to produce the final edited image (107). Thus, the method (800) and system (700) of the present disclosure enable precise spatial edits to be performed to a 2D image (103) by understanding object positions and dimensions in a real-world 3D space, thereby improving the accuracy and clarity of edits
