Abstract: A method (800) and system (100) for simulating an electronic control unit (ECU) schematic (300) is disclosed. A processor (104) determines at least one I/O port (304) of an ECU and at least one electric circuit (506, 508) corresponding to the at least one I/O port in the ECU schematic. A set of junction points of the at least one electric circuit are determined based on the set of passive electronic components and a configuration information of each of the set of passive electronic components is determined. A reduced circuitry of the at least one electric circuit is determined based on a predefined set of rules. At least one virtual component and a virtual configuration information associated with the reduced circuitry is determined based on a predefined library. A virtual-ECU schematic of the ECU schematic is simulated based on the at least one virtual component and the virtual configuration information. FIG.1
