MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621084733 A) filed by Mosin Khalil Shaikh on July 10, 2026, for Method And System For Sensorless Estimation Of Vehicle Vibration Using Pass- By Acoustic Measurement And Hybrid Dynamic Modeling.
Inventor includes Mosin Khalil Shaikh.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a computer-implemented method, system, and non-transitory computer-readable medium for estimating vehicle vibration levels from pass-by acoustic noise measurements without requiring onboard vibration sensors. The method acquires vehicle operating parameters including sprung mass, suspension stiffness, damping coefficient, vehicle speed, excitation amplitude, excitation wavelength, pass-by acoustic noise level, and road gradient. A seven-degree- of-freedom (7-DOF) vehicle dynamic model generates the vehicle response, which is combined with experimentally calibrated mathematical correlation models to estimate vehicle vibration parameters, including vertical body acceleration. The correlation models are developed using experimentally measured vibration and acoustic noise data under different operating conditions. The system comprises at least one acoustic sensor, a processor, and a memory configured to execute the estimation process, validate predicted vibration values, and store estimated vibration information for ride comfort evaluation. The disclosed invention provides a non-invasive, cost-effective, and efficient solution for vehicle vibration estimation.
