Abstract: [0001] The present disclosure relates to a system (100) and a method (300) for performing distributed recognition and contextual mixed reality (MR) rendering based on a hybrid recognition pipeline. The system (100) receives, from a communication device (104), an image of a physical environment captured by one or more sensors (104A). The system (100) extracts global feature embeddings and local binary descriptors from the image and transmits the global embeddings to a cloud server (106) storing reference embeddings. The cloud server (106) performs a similarity search to identify candidate reference images, which are transmitted to the communication device (104) for local descriptor matching and generation of refined similarity scores. The system (100) fuses the refined and global similarity scores to determine a final recognition result, retrieves corresponding mixed reality assets, renders virtual elements spatially aligned with the physical environment, and displays the rendered MR content on the communication device (104).
