Abstract: “METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PAIRED-PULSE DUAL-MODE ENCODING IN WIDE-BANDWIDTH NEUROMORPHIC SYSTEMS” The present disclosure relates to a method and system for paired-pulse dual-mode encoding in wide-bandwidth neuromorphic systems. The method comprises applying at least two successive electrical pulses to a neuromorphic device (101), and generating, in response, a corresponding electrical output and a corresponding optical output. An electrical Paired-Pulse Depression (PPD) response and an optical PPD response are determined based on the respective outputs. The electrical PPD response and the optical PPD response are associated with respective temporal relaxation dynamics, such that the electrical PPD response provides a temporal encoding channel for relatively higher-frequency input stimuli and the optical PPD response provides a temporal encoding channel for relatively lower-frequency input stimuli. The electrical PPD response and the optical PPD response may be combined into a temporal feature representation for classifying temporal information, including by identifying frequency-associated clusters and applying a linear decision boundary.
