Abstract: A system (200) and a method (100) for optimizing engineering design of a power distribution system. The method (100) includes receiving, by a processor (204), input for engineering design of the power distribution system, in a power system design application. The method is characterized by generating, by the processor (204), multi- dimensional layouts comprising virtual models of multiple components associated with the engineering design based on the input, in a computer simulated environment and performing, by the processor (204), real-time simulations on the multi-dimensional layouts based on multiple parameters associated with the power distribution system, in the computer simulated environment. Further, the method includes generating, by the processor (204), a 2D design package of the engineering design based on the real-time simulations and conversion of the multi-dimensional layouts into 2D layouts and displaying, by the processor (204), the 2D design package of the engineering design on the power system design application.
