MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421082724 A) filed by Jio Platforms Limited on October 29, 2024, for Method And System For Managing Database Expansion In A Network.

Inventors include Bhatnagar, Aayush; Shetty, Mukta Bhaskar; Bhaskar, Alok; Singh, Sanjeev; Kalavadiya, Milankumar; Awate, Sourabh; and Kumawat, Sachin.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method (500) and system (108) for efficiently managing database expansion in a network (106). The method (500) includes storing data associated with a network function (302) in a primary database (304) and continuously monitoring operating parameters to detect one or more conditions that trigger database expansion. Upon detecting such conditions, such as exceeding capacity thresholds, high latency, or administrative scaling commands, a secondary database (306) is enabled for concurrent data storage. During a predefined synchronization period, the method (500) performs parallel write and remove operations across both databases to ensure data consistency and service continuity. Thereafter, at least a portion of ongoing service operations, including new binding and policy control requests, are directed to the secondary database (306), facilitating seamless database scaling, load distribution, and zero-downtime transition in the network (106).
