Abstract: ABSTRACT A system (200) and a method (100) for generating a single line diagram (SLD) of a power system. The method (100) includes receiving, by a processor (204), an input comprising specifications for generation of the SLD of the power system, in a power system design application. The method characterized by applying, by the processor (204), the input as a prompt engineering query to a model 210A and generating, by the processor (204), a system specification description (SSD) file by the model 210A based on the prompt engineering query. Further, the method includes determining, by the processor (204), the SSD file is compliant with at least one standard associated with the power system; generating, by the processor (204), the SLD based on the SSD file; and causing, by the processor (204), to display the SLD on a screen of the power system design tool.
