Abstract: ABSTRACT [0029] This project aims to develop advanced 3D printing composite filaments by reinforcing Polylactic Acid (PLA) with Graphene, Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs), and their hybrid combinations to achieve enhanced mechanical strength and multifunctional properties. In the current phase, PLA– MWCNT composite thin films with varying filler contents (0%, 5%, and 10%) were fabricated using the solvent casting method and characterized through tensile testing, SEM, and electrical conductivity analysis. The results revealed that both mechanical and electrical properties improved significantly with increasing MWCNT concentration. The maximum tensile strength increased from 3.24 MPa (PC0) to 8.82 MPa (PC10), while the strain at break rose from 20.36% to 82.37%, demonstrating enhanced strength and ductility. Electrical conductivity also showed a strong dependence on filler content and frequency, with PC10 exhibiting values nearly three orders of magnitude higher than pure PLA. These findings confirm the reinforcing effect of MWCNTs on PLA and establish the foundation for the next phase of the study, which will focus on developing PLA–Graphene and PLA–Graphene–MWCNT hybrid composites, and optimizing them for FDM filament extrusion and advanced functional applications such as electromagnetic shielding.
