MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631091081 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Rourkela Nit Rourkela on July 27, 2026, for Method And System For Enhancing Visibility Of Images And Detecting Objects Therein.
Inventors include Dhara, Sobhan Kanti; Dey, Arkapravo; Mondal, Shiladitya; and Das, Santos Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ENHANCING VISIBILITY OF IMAGES AND DETECTING OBJECTS THEREIN Provided are a system (100) and a method (800) for enhancing visibility of one or more images and detecting one or more objects therein. The method comprises receiving (802) image data representing one or more images captured under degraded atmospheric conditions using an imaging device (102) and extracting (804) one or more image features from the image data. Further, the method comprises generating (806) one or more dehazed images using a deep learning-based dehazing model and identifying (808) one or more objects present in the one or more dehazed images using a deep learning-based object detection model. The method further comprises receiving (810) distance information corresponding to the identified one or more objects from a proximity sensing device (151), determining (812) an alert condition based on the identified one or more objects, associated confidence, and the received distance information, and generating (814) one or more driver assistance outputs, thereby enabling real-time edge-based image enhancement, object detection, and driver assistance under degraded atmospheric conditions.
