MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441098287 A) filed by Ashok Leyland Limited on December 12, 2024, for Method And System For Determining Ambient Temperature To Control Urea Dosing Rates Into Scr System.

Inventors include Harish V; Gokul Kumar E; Viswaprabha Nk; Kosalaraman Kumar; and Krishnan Sadagopan.

The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: A method (800) for estimating an ambient temperature of an engine exhaust system (105) to control urea dosing rates into a SCR system (103) including steps of: detecting parameters of the engine exhaust system (105) by a plurality of sensors (101). Further, transmitting the detected values of detected parameters by the plurality of sensors (101) to a control unit (102). Further, determining by the control unit (102), whether to use an intake manifold temperature detected by an intake manifold temperature sensor (101-e) as the ambient temperature or to choose the ambient temperature obtained from a first method (900) or a second method (1000). Further, transmitting the determined ambient temperature as a control signal by the control unit (102) to the SCR system (103) for controlling the urea dosing rates into said SCR system (103).
