Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method (400) for determining a real-time traffic state surrounding a vehicle (100). The method (400) includes determining an object count for a plurality of object categories based on an input from an image-capturing device (106) and receiving a set of driving parameters associated with the vehicle (100) based on a sensor-input. The method (400) includes one or more traffic flag values based on an individually correlating the object count for each of the plurality of object categories and the set of driving parameters with a corresponding set of threshold values and determining the real-time traffic state based on identifying at least one of a highest priority traffic flag value among the one or more traffic flag values, thereby modifying ADAS (104) based on the real-time traffic state.
