Abstract: A system for controlling a blade configured for grading a surface of earth is presented. The system includes sensors, mounted on the blade, configured to 5 generate one or more sensor output values representative of a position and a material of the surface of earth located in front and on lateral sides of the blade. The system also includes a blade control unit configured to determine presence of a non-gradable surface or a gradable surface in the surface of earth based on the position and the material of the surface of earth located in the front and on the 10 lateral sides of the blade, and control the blade to change a current position of the blade to a new position to prevent the blade and the non-gradable surface from getting damaged.
