The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system involving robotic crawlers in treating pipeline field joints, whereby the method and system enables simultaneous treatment of a successive number of joints within the pipeline by treatment units which are operated so as to subject each of said joints to consecutive different treatments. Particularly, the system comprising: a surface preparation crawler (300) comprising a surface preparation module (301) linked to a locomotion unit (200), wherein the surface preparation module (301) is configured at a rear end of the surface preparation crawler (300); a coating crawler (400, 500) comprising a coating module (401, 501) linked to a locomotion unit, wherein the coating module (401, 501) is configured at a front end of the coating crawler (400, 500), wherein the surface preparation crawler (300) and the coating crawler (400, 500) are arranged to travel within a pipeline in a manner whereby upon completion of a surface preparation of a first field joint the surface preparation crawler (300) is caused to move on from said first field joint to a next succeeding second field joint while the coating crawler (400, 500) treats the said first field joint whereby successive field joints are treated simultaneously. In this way, the system provides a significantly reduction in a total cycle time for pipe laying. Further, the system is able to avoid driving over a previously treated area thereby preventing contamination.
