Abstract: A method (500) and system (100) for configuring target network devices are disclosed. A processor receives a natural-language user input associated with a target network device and determines whether the natural-language input is a conversational input or a configuration input. When the input is the configuration input, the processor retrieves one or more stored command examples from a command example database and generates, using a Large Language Model (LLM), a set of command line interface (CLI) commands executable by the target network device. The processor determines a command type for each CLI command as a configuration command or an execution command, arranges the set of CLI commands for execution based on the command type of each CLI command, establishes a Secure Shell (SSH) session with the target network device, and executes the CLI commands based on the arranged set of CLI commands and the command type of each CLI command.
