MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611090346 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Roorkee on July 24, 2026, for Method And Apparatus For Synchronization Signal Block (ssb) Detection In Wireless Communication Systems.
Inventors include Sah, Abhay Kumar; Rai, Shweta; and Gangrade, Himesh.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: A method for detecting a physical cell identity of a base station by a wireless communication receiver is provided. The method includes receiving a synchronization signal block comprising a primary synchronization signal, a secondary synchronization signal, and a physical broadcast channel, generating a first combined reference sequence by summing predefined primary synchronization sequences, computing first correlation metrics for time windows, determining a frame boundary where the first correlation metric satisfies a threshold condition, computing second correlation metrics at the frame boundary, identifying a first sequence index, extracting samples corresponding to a secondary synchronization signal symbol, generating group reference sequences by grouping predefined secondary synchronization sequences into subsets within correlation sub-blocks, computing third correlation metrics, identifying candidate subset, computing fourth correlation metrics within the candidate subset, identifying a second sequence index, and determining the physical cell identity based on the first and second sequence indices.
