MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621042061 A) filed by Climate Research & Services, India Meteorological Department, Ministry Of Earth Sciences on April 01, 2026, for Method And Apparatus For Measuring Atmospheric Air Pressure.
Inventors include Dr. Zacharia, Shijo; Krishnan, K. C. Sai; Madan, Ranju; and Anjan, Anjith.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method (500) for measuring atmospheric air pressure using an apparatus (102). The method includes generating (502) a set of raw sensor readings by acquiring pressure signals from the plurality of pressure sensors exposed to ambient air pressure through the ventilated enclosure. Further, the method includes generating (506) a filtered sensor reading set by identifying qualified sensor readings from the set of calibrated sensor readings using at least one screening technique. Further, the method includes generating (508) a set of reliability weights by computing an inverse variance weight for each qualified sensor reading based on temporal variance of the qualified sensors reading over a predefined number of past samples. Furthermore, the method includes generating (512) a pressure tendency value by computing a difference between a current fused pressure value and a fused pressure value obtained at a predefined prior interval, thereby measuring atmospheric air pressure.
