Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method and an apparatus for generating key during switch of serving network node. A method (300) performed by a first network node in a communication network comprises: obtaining (S302) an identifier of a second network node; computing (S304) a key to be used for a communication between the second network node and a terminal device, based at least on the identifier of the second network node. The identifier of the second network node differentiates the second network node from at least the first network node. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, the exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure propose a mechanism that provides a workable security solution framework for new key computation during switch of serving network nodes. The security risk due to repeated keys may be avoid.
