MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617076120 A) filed by Membran Tech Gmbh on June 19, 2026, for Method And Apparatus For Desalinating Seawater Using Reverse Osmosis.

Inventors include Lazik, Detlef; Lazik, Dieter; and Lazik, Walter.

The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for desalinating seawater and an apparatus for carrying out said method, having the steps of: providing a reverse osmosis module (1) fluidically connected to the upper end of a marine body of water at a depth ht with i as element of the natural numbers and i0, within the body of water, wherein the reverse osmosis module (1) comprises a cavity having a process water space (4) with a feed (2) and a discharge (3) and having a permeate water space (5), said process water space and permeate water space being separated from one another by at least one osmosis membrane filter (6); providing an outlet distributor (7) fluidically connected to the outlet of the process water space (4) at an outlet depth hain the body of water, wherein the outlet distributor (7) has an outlet directed towards the surrounding water; and pumping the permeate water out of a permeate water space (5); wherein a process water flow is formed from the feed of the process water space (4) to the discharge of the process water space (4), said process water flow having a hydrostatic process water pressure p1 in the reverse osmosis module (1) which is built up as a result of the depth h1 of the at least one reverse osmosis module (1) in the body of water. The invention further relates to an apparatus for carrying out the method according to the invention.
