MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641124073 A) filed by Rajalakshmii Engineering College on October 16, 2026, for Metalloantibiotic Tris(m-Aqua) Bis(1, 10-Phenanthroline)-Di-Sodiumbis {4-(4-(dimethylamino) Phenyl)diazenyl)- Benzenesulfonate..

Inventor includes Dr P. Ramadevi.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: This invention discloses a novel antimicrobial agent comprising tris(l-aqua)bis(1,10- phenanthroline)-di-sodiumbisf4-(4-(dimethylamino)phenyBdiazenyl)- benzenesulfonate), a unique metal-phenanthroline complex incorporating methyl orange dye. The complex was synthesized and characterized using various techniques, including single crystal X-ray diffraction. Antimicrobial assays demonstrated significant activity against Gram-positive 365 bacteria such as Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus, as well as promising activity against Gram-negative bacteria and the fungus Aspergillus niger. This invention provides a potential new class of antimicrobial agents to address the growing challenge of antibiotic resistance.
