Abstract: A metallic rod smoothening device, comprises of a platform 101 positioned over a fixed surface and configured with a curved member 102 that is accessed by a user to position a rod that is to be smoothened within the member 102, an imaging unit 104 integrated with a laser sensor for detecting diameter of the rod, a motorized expandable pulley arrangement 107 installed in each of a pair of motorize rollers 105 and engaged with a flexible sheet 106 that is looped around the rollers 105 to provide expansion to the rollers 105, a robotic gripper 108 to grip the rod from one end and position the rod in between the looped sheet 106, and motorized sliding unit 109 to provide translation to the rollers 105 along the sliding units 109 to rub the sheet 106 over the entire outer portion of the rod for smoothening of the rod.
