MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621048934 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Bombay on April 17, 2026, for Metabolic Markers Of Cisplatin Resistance In Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (tnbc).

Inventors include Parihari, Shashwati; and Srivastava, Sanjeeva.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: Provided herein is a method for screening differential expression of metabolic biomarkers in cisplatin-resistant TNBC cells compared to sensitive sample. The biomarkers are selected from the group consisting of sphinganine-1-phosphate, sphingosine, ceramide, phytosphingosine, lysophosphatidylcholine (LysoPC), arginine, threonine, niacinamide, 1-methylnicotinamide, propionylcarnitine, pregnenolone, glutathione (GSH), palmitic acid, glutamate, proline, carnitine, histidine, choline, valine, phenylalanine, N8-acetylspermidine, D-pantothenic acid, (R)-Salsolinol, N1,N12-Diacetylspermine, Propionylcarnitine, 10-Oxotetradecanoic acid, Taurochenodeoxycholic acid, Lauroylsarcosine, Folic acid, Dipentyl phthalate, 2,4- Dimethylthiazole, N-Tricosanoylglycine and creatine. The differential expression of these metabolites enables segregation of cisplatin-resistant TNBC cells from cisplatin-sensitive TNBC cells. The method may be used for diagnostic, prognostic, or therapeutic purposes, screening of drugs, including identification of resistance-associated metabolic signatures and development of non- invasive monitoring strategies for chemoresistance.
