Inventors include Sivakumar, Sri; Verma, Sandeep; Sati, Preeti; and Ali, Rafat.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: MEMBRANE-FREE LIVER-ON-A-CHIP DEVICE AND METHOD FOR FABRICATING THEREOF The present invention discloses a membrane-free microfluidic device (100) comprising: a microfluidic hexagonal chamber (6) equipped with an inlet port (1), an outlet port (2), and a seeding port (3); a hydrogel matrix (9) encapsulated with a suspension of co-culture of hepatocytes and fibroblast, wherein the hydrogel matrix comprises a polymer functionalized with cysteine–glycine– arginine–glycine–aspartate–serine (CGRGDS) peptide; and a monolayer of a non-parenchymal cell (7) adhered on top of the hydrogel matrix. The present invention also discloses a method for fabricating the membrane-free microfluidic device as described herein.
