Inventors include Sivasakthi B; Akshay S; Ashia Rahmath; Lniya V; and Yogapriya P.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: Meditation is associated with changes in brain activity that can be observed through electroencephalography (EEG). However, conventional EEG systems may be complex and inconvenient for regular meditation monitoring. To address this limitation, the proposed Meditation-Induced Plasticity Monitor is designed as a portable and non-invasive EEG-based monitoring system. The proposed system acquires EEG signals using scalp electrodes and processes the signals using an EEG signal acquisition module. The acquired EEG signals are amplified and digitized and transferred through an SPI interface to an ESP32 microcontroller. The processed data is transmitted wirelessly using Bluetooth Low Energy to a mobile application. The mobile application provides visualization of EEG signals and analyzes selected frequency components including Theta, Alpha, Beta, and Gamma bands. Based on selected EEG features, the system can generate a meditation-related monitoring score and store session information for comparison between different meditation sessions. The proposed system combines EEG acquisition, embedded signal processing, wireless communication, and mobile-based analysis into a compact monitoring platform. It is designed to support convenient observation of meditation-associated EEG changes and long-term session tracking. The system is intended for monitoring and research purposes and should not be considered a definitive clinical measurement of neuroplasticity.
