MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411103710 A) filed by Lovely Professional University on December 27, 2024, for Medical Event Monitoring System For Liquid Medication Adherence Using Strain Gauge Sensors.
Inventor includes Priyanka Garg.
The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a Medical Event Monitoring System designed to enhance liquid medication adherence through the use of strain gauge sensors. The system comprises a track cap that is configured to be placed on a syrup bottle, integrating sensors and micro-circuitry to monitor medication usage. Embedded within the track cap are multiple strain gauge load sensors that measure the weight of the medication remaining after each dose, operating on the principle of piezoresistivity to convert resistance changes into voltage signals. An Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) is also integrated to detect the bottle's position and movement, such as opening, tilting, and shaking, providing additional data on medication handling. The system includes a data aggregation and transmission module that automatically collects and transmits real-time data to healthcare personnel, ensuring comprehensive tracking and time-stamping of medication administration events. The micro-circuitry digitizes sensor and IMU data for analysis and transmission
