MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611063075 A) filed by Malaviya National Institute Of Technology Jaipur on May 19, 2026, for Mechanism And Apparatus For Additive Manufacturing Of High Aspect-Ratio Objects.
Inventors include Ram Dayal; Amit Arora; Shubhankar Singh; and Arman Manoj Dongre.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides a mechanism and apparatus specifically designed for seamless additive manufacturing of high aspect- ratio objects. The invention features a modular architecture wherein the build platform (3) is completely decoupled and a pair of extendable columnar guideways (2) is incorporated. Through these design features, the invention enables continuous, uninterrupted vertical printing, effectively removing fixed build-height constraint of conventional enclosed-frame 3D printers. The mechanical traverse (1) is configured to move along the externally mounted guideways (2), facilitating the fabrication of tall printed objects (9) as a single monolithic structure. Structural isolation of the three-axis traverse system enhances rigidity and reduces vibration transmission, resulting in superior surface finish and improved dimensional accuracy. The modular architecture further enables parallel manufacturing/printing by deploying multiple 3-axis traverses on the same pair of aforesaid modularly extendable guideways (2) and using a multi-tier build platform with stackable modules (3), resulting in high-throughput.
