Abstract: A mechanical joint stimulation device (100) comprises a structural frame (112). An upper external compression band (102) and a lower external compression band (104) are attached to a structural frame (112) and configured to encircle proximal and distal limb segments respectively adjacent to a synovial joint. A central helical spring (106) is connected between an upper portion and a lower portion of the structural frame (112) and configured to undergo axial compression upon relative displacement of the proximal and distal limb segments. A plurality of guided movement rings (108) mounted on the structural frame (112) comprises a capsule spring (210). Each guided movement ring constrains axial and rotational displacement of the structural frame (112) relative to the limb segments to predetermined ranges during joint movement. Furthermore, axial compression of the central helical spring (106) drives the capsule spring (210) to deliver cyclical radial compression to tissue surrounding the synovial joint.
