MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631111202 A) filed by Prabhat Kumar; and Dr. Deepali Prasad on September 16, 2026, for Maps-Enriched Gel Formulation For Skincare And Method Of Preparation Thereof.

Inventors include Dr. Prabhat Kumar; Rahul Raj; Dr. Nitesh Kumar; Dr. Deepali Prasad; and Dr. Kumar Pranay.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention aims to develop a reproducible, analytically characterized, MAP-enriched herbal gel formulation for topical skincare by integrating selected high- altitude and cultivated medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) with Aloe vera and evaluating their combined biological activities. Selected MAPs, including sea buckthorn, apricot, roseroot, flaxseed, kasturi haldi, aama haldi, tejpatta, basil, ajwain, turmeric and lemon, were characterized and used to develop 27 candidate formulations. Based on stability, homogeneity, spreadability, phytochemical fingerprints and biological evaluation, four lead formulations, PK1–PK4, were selected. The formulations comprise clarified Aloe vera gel, botanical extracts/oils obtained by Soxhlet extraction and/or hydrodistillation, and a Carbopol–glycerol– triethanolamine gel system. UPLC–QTOF–MS identified 35–38 chromatographic peaks and 21–31 putative marker compounds. Antibacterial activity against S.aureus, B. cereus, E. coli and P. aeruginosa showed MICs of 3.12–6.25 mg/mL. PK1 demonstrated up to 65.28% albumin-denaturation inhibition, while PK4 exhibited adaptogenic activity. The invention therefore provides a standardized MAP-enriched topical gel platform with demonstrated antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and adaptogenic attributes.
