Abstract: A method for managing one or more stages associated with a Network Energy Saving (NES) mode. The method includes deciding, at a source cell, a transition to a Network Energy Saving (NES) mode. The method includes transmitting an Uplink (UL) Wake Up Signal (WUS) configuration transmission request to a target cell. The source cell transmits the UL WUS configuration transmission request to determine whether the target cell is configurable to broadcast an UL WUS configuration to one or more user equipment (UEs) camped on the target cell. The method includes receiving one of: an UL WUS configuration transmission acknowledgement, or an UL WUS configuration transmission failure message from the target cell. The method includes performing one of: an activation of the NES mode, or a deactivation of the NES mode based on the receiving one of: the UL WUS configuration transmission acknowledgement, or the UL WUS configuration transmission failure message.
