Abstract: The present invention discloses a mechanized makhana seed collection system (100) designed for efficient harvesting of makhana seeds from pond beds. The system comprises a floating platform (1), a hydraulically adjustable collection chute (2), a centrifugal slurry pump (5), a screening assembly (4), and an outboard motor propeller (7) for propulsion. In operation, the chute (2), positioned near the pond bottom, lifts a slurry of seeds, mud, and water through the pump (5), which discharges the mixture onto the screening assembly (4). The screen (4) permits water and fine debris to return to the pond while retaining seeds and larger particles. The hydraulic system (3) enables precise depth adjustment, while guide plates (8) beneath the chute (2) maintain clearance from the pond bed. The integrated system reduces labor intensity, time, and health risks associated with manual diving, while ensuring efficient seed segregation with minimal damage. The invention thus provides a safe, economical, and scalable mechanized solution for large-scale makhana cultivation.
